Humans are social creature and we need to connect with others (to varying extents) to be happy. Extroverts get their energy from their interactions with others. Introverts who need time to recharge alone, still need human interaction to be happy.
There are a few different aspects of social interactions (or community) that are required to be free, successful, and happy; including:
- Relationships
- Mastermind teams
- Giving
Relationships
It is important that we spend quality time with friends, family, and even strangers. We should never stop meeting new people, forging new relationships, and growing our social networks.
How? Put yourself out there:
- Go out to places that interest you and meet new people.
- Plan to do something with friends and then tell them to bring new friends too.
- Reconnect with old friends and see if you still share any common interests.
- Join sites/apps such as Meetup, Tinder, Bumble BFF and go to events that interest you.
Mastermind team
A concept first mentioned by Napoleon Hill (with detail in his book Think and Grow Rich) and since highlighted by other success teachers such as Anthony Robbins. There is good reason for this, because two (or more) minds make better decisions than one.
So go out and form your mastermind team. The team will depend on the purpose but should be diverse with different skill sets so that everybody isn’t thinking in the same way.
Giving
Do a search for the benefits of giving and you’ll be surprised at how good it is, not just for the receiver but also for the giver. I won’t delve into the Altruism vs Egoism debate but just say that giving is good for you.
There are numerous ways of giving, besides monetary donations you can also give your time, skills and knowledge. Think of something you care about and you will find a number of ways of giving that will benefit all involved.
